RAD Rendezvous and the River Arts District Welcome Center officially opens its doors with a ribbon cutting with the city and a celebration to follow. We’ve been open since August 1st but the welcome center just started setting up last week and it's looking great! Plus, we will be securing LOVE LOCKS to the fence outside. What a sweet idea! You can bring your own lock tomorrow or any day after OR you can purchase a fundraising love lock from RADA. We've been working like crazy to get everything ready, and we seriously cannot wait for you all to see what we've created! Here's the schedule for tomorrow:
The RAD Welcome Center is HERE!Right when you walk into RAD Rendezvous, you'll hit our brand new River Arts District Welcome Center. It's going to be your one-stop info center for everything RAD; what's open, who's around, where to go next. Think of it as your personal tour guide to the district. A Humble Brag…Okay, I have to brag a little... Heather Clements and I painted such a fun mural for the Welcome Center! Working with Heather was such a dream. She's this amazing artist…seriously, check out her work. We hope you feel warmly welcomed by this mural when you check out the welcome center!
3 days of painting in 52 seconds. Time-lapse by Heather Clements. What You'll Find at RAD RendezvousAmy Michaelson Kelly of Hatteras Sky and Jeffrey Burroughs, our RADA president, had a vision. Hatteras Sky purchased this warehouse space next to The Radical Hotel and collaborated to turn it into something magical. We're talking:
Why This Means SO MUCH to MeThis past year has been incredibly challenging and I do consider myself one of the lucky ones. After Helene, so many of us were piecing our lives back together, trying to make sense of all the emotions arising within this new normal, and wondering what would happen to our WNC community and our beloved River Arts District. RAD Rendezvous, in my mind, is our love letter to resilience, to COMMUNITY. This isn't just another art space. This is us saying "We're still here creating and this community is stronger than ever." Personally, I feel forever changed by the events of the past year and I'm so grateful I've found so many silver linings. That is not everyone's story in WNC, so I'm taking this fortune as a serious responsibilty to pay it forward to my community. RAD Rendezvous is my 4th presence in the RAD over the 20 years I've been here and it feels most like HOME. My first space was in "the cooler" at Phil Mechanic, then I joined Taylor Gallery which was so fun, after that I had a small gallery wall at Foundation Studios which was destroyed in the flooding. Come See Us!RAD Rendezvous So tomorrow, come through. Say hi. Meet artists. Learn more about the district. Check out the mural. And help us celebrate this incredible milestone. Can't wait to see you there! xo, |

You are receiving this email because you signed up for my art-related email list. Hi! I'm sending a quick not to ask if you would kindly help me get through the first round of voting the Johnny Depp Presents The People's Artist initiative benefitting the Art of Elysium. It would mean a lot to me! And yes, this is truly a popularity contest, but a life-changing one. To win would mean stability for my art studio practice and I could pay off a little debt as well. I figured why not give it a...
Hi Reader, It's been a minute. Life had other plans for a while and I took some time to recalibrate, focus on my art practice, and quietly get some things in order behind the scenes of Happy Little Websites while continuing to support my clients. Thanks for still being here. I just updated our website to reflect the ways I've been creating with clients over the past couple years. Here's what you can now find on happylittlewebsites.com: Web and Brand Audits Not sure if your website is actually...
You are receiving this email because you signed up for my art-related email list. Happy new year! As usual, this Capricorn is feeling starry-eyed over the new year. It has always been my favorite time of year because I LOVE goal-setting and reflecting deeply as well as the calmer energy and how unusual time feels in that space between Christmas and New Years day. A huge part of my planning for 2026 involves utilizing the grants I was so generously awarded! I'm feeling very lucky. ☺️ A HUGE...
